International Teachers of Colour

Picture
This is a website linked to the Facebook group of the same name. The group was created as a space for international teachers of colour to share their own experiences, discuss ideas of how to deliver cultural diversity in schools and share resources. The idea was for people of all backgrounds to join in and help share their expertise, perspectives and resources. The website become an extension of the group so what has been collected can be shared with those outside the group.

The group and website is open to people of all backgrounds, international organisations linked to schools, recruitment agencies, accreditation organisations and educational organisations who would like to join in discussions and share what they are doing for our community.

On this website you will find a vast range of resources which can be used to help you as a teacher and your educational institute develop ideas, learn and share with your wider community.

We have recently started a series of 'Conversations with an International Teacher of Colour' which you can find on our Conversations page.

Discussion about recruitment and retention in international schools

On Wednesday March 9th I will be part of a panel discussing the following:

Panel Discussion: Recruiting Outstanding International Educators
  • Exploring the changing trends and patterns in international recruitment – what are the key lessons learned and how can this inform future recruitment, retention and professional development strategies for diverse and multicultural school settings
  • Discussing how schools can promote diversity in their recruitment of leadership and faculty, by adopting innovative, equitable, and inclusive hiring practices and structures
  • Recruiting for long-term retention – what do schools leaders need to consider during the hiring process, and what should ‘the right’ candidate look like?

I would like some input from members of this group before going on the panel. If you feel you are able to share your experience and give some guidance which I can bring to the discussion please join me this Sunday at 2pm GMT.
